Working in the vicinity of Solent Meads Golf Centre

Southbourne, a popular suburb of Bournemouth, was founded by Thomas Armetriding Compton, a young physician who recognized the potential of the area as a health resort. The clifftop land that later became Southbourne was originally part of Tuckton Farm, and Compton purchased it in 1871. The Southbourne-on-Sea Freehold Land Company was established in 1882 with Compton as the main shareholder, and it was responsible for the development of the area.

The majority of the development in Southbourne occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and today the area is known for its mixture of period homes and modern developments, as well as its stunning clifftop location and close proximity to the beach. Some of the older properties in the area include Southbourne Lodge, a Georgian mansion built by Edmund Bott in 1766 that still stands today and is a Grade II listed building.
